Strange Folders in my C: Drive

April 6, 2009 at 20:40:58
Specs: Windows XP, Celeron 2.66ghz/ 512 MB
I don't make a habit of checking my C: drive on this particular PC, but I was moving some files around in Explorer and saw these two folders that look strange.

Here are the names:

This folder contains only 1 file-msxml4-KB927978-enu.txt

This folder contains a bunch of dll files among others, and one subfolder: System32

Any information would be helpful; if they are malicious, how to remove them? If harmless or vital, any way to move them without causing system trouble?

You should scan your computer with updated antivirus and updated spyware removal tools, like Malwarebytes in safe mode.
Restart the computer and press F8 and select Safe Mode and scan your computer with Malwarebytes.
You can download and install Malwarebytes from this link.
If you are not able to download in normal mode then you can download from Safe Mode with Networking.
Restart the computer and press F8 and select safe mode with networking.

It's just an update folder. You can delete it.
