Hi,

i am facing a severe problem with folder options.

When i click tools->folder options->view->show all hidden files->OK.

Hidden files are not shown.

When i went back and cross checked the tools->folder options->view
"Donot show hidden files" option was selected. This was doen automatically.

By this i am not able to view my hidden files.

Please suggest me a solution.

Regards,

Hi,

I used default windows option to hide my folders.

right click->properties and then enable the hidden option.

I am not able to view these hidden folders using show all hidden files option.

Even though if i select "show all hidden files" from tools menu, after i press OK
"donot show option is getting selected automatically.

Plz help me.

Make sure you boot in to Safe Mode to use Remove Restrictions Tool (RRT).

Try this.

In Folder Options, select Show hidden files and folders, and uncheck Hide protected operating system files.

Hi,

I tried unchecking show operating system files.

Still no improvement.

I guess its a root kit virus.

I have used several rootkit revealers like RRT,Hijackthis, unhackme,
Windows-KB890830-V1.36.exe(windows malcious software remover).

Still no use.

I also used Folder_Options.reg which will restore the folder
options registry to default state.

Still no use.

Right now i cannot format my disk because i have got much useful
info in it.

"Right now i cannot format my disk because"

Slave your HD to another HD/comp ( no need to bolt it in, just cable it & leave it outside the case ) & copy your stuff ( don't forget your emails & address book ) onto the other HD or other media.
You may have a choice of jumper settings on the master HD, such as master with slave or ms.

Now put it back in your comp, once again, no need to bolt it in at this stage ( change the jumper, back to where it was ) & fdisk, reboot & format.

You can also check this in the registry.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced. Go to the rightside of the window, where the values are. Find the value "Hidden" . Rightclick it and modify it to 1.

That is why you need other tools, 4000 new badies coming out every month, not 1 tool can keep up with it.

Did you test to see if you have chinese writing when right clicking as per the link?

Hi,

There is no chinese writing when right clicked as per the link.

Also i tried by copying my data in a backup disk and formatting my disk

and again copying back.

Again the same scene repeats.

I observed a new behaviour along with the folder options problem. When i

double click on C: drive icon it is taking time and opening in a

different window.

I am really scared.

Plz help.
