Strange error! PLEASE HELP!

Acer / ASPIRE 1640Z

Specs: Windows XP
ok so here's the problem:

Everytime I go to open internet explorer, it close's immediately, and its the same with any program that requires connection to the internet, they just close themselves without being open for longer than a few seconds! I connect to the internet through wireless, and if the wireless is turned on, prior to starting up my laptop then it connects to the network fine but I still get the internet explorer closing straight away. But, if the wireless is turned off prior to starting up my laptop then once windows has fully loaded i cannot connect to the wireless network. I receive the following error message within my wireless network connections: "Windows cannot configure this wireless connection. If you have enabled another program to manage this wireless connection, use that software. If you want Windows to configure this wireless conection, start the windows zero configuration (WZC) service." So i used the WZC and managed to get a list of available networks with my network at the top, but it says it is not connected...
I dont have a clue what's wrong and I haven't done anything to my laptop, although a few days ago I had an error message to do with automatic updates, but I had been on t internet after this?!?!
Oh and my Norton anti-virus software had 8 errors, it could not carry out tasks such as a system scan even though my subscription ran out about 2 years ago it could still carry out these tasks previously!
itunes only opens for a few seconds aswell and then close's on itself with the error message, "error with audio configuration".
I hope this makes sense, but would really appreciate any help or advice! Many thanks!

Try to get a friend to download these programs onto a thumb drive or a re-writable CD:
Ccleaner Slim
Avast Free
Avast Free Updates
Spyware Blaster
Spybot S&D
Install all of those onto your PC. Be sure to stay disconnected from the internet while scanning.
They can find all these free cleaners in the link of my signature on one page.
Run the programs in that order, removing all they find.
When installing Avast, also install all the latest updates and then be sure to let it do a bootscan on reboot and move all it finds to the chest.

Also after you get back online I would suggest you get the uninstaller from the norton site and use that to remove are NOT protected after your subscription runs out and also norton is a big resource hog.
Post back on your progress.

Some HELP in posting on plus free progs and instructions Cheers
