Curious, all right, but DON'T open them, and without that, then knowing what it is, can be hard. You could try in NOTEPAD or WORDPAD or check it's properties, but dangerous, honestly, who cares whose it's from, as that's what they want to be, curious, so as you'll open and BAMMM! Infection! Maybe.

ok, here we go,
1,you can't get a virus from opening an e-mail
poorly writen/configured e-mail cliants (outlook cough cough) have given rise to this.

As for this e-mail a look but don't touch policy is probly best. Look at it but don't run/open (macros do "run" but most ppls don't think they run a word doc, i love stright ascii text files, no macros, no extra crap piled in there, 20 k for a one word MS word XP file what a joke) any atachments or open any links.

Not sure what you mean here. Klez and w32.sobig.A@mm (which I had)infect a machine
just by being in your inbox of OE if you have the preview pane open. Possibly by deleting these two, opens them in the preview pane.

Posters on this site suggest turning off this function. VIEW - LAYOUT - un-check SHOW PREVIEW PANE.
I received an E-mail via Hotmail without an attachment, yet was 167kb. Hotmail cleans E-mail of virii and sends what's left. I believe this is what happened here.

Sorry this is fragmented.

Its spam.. the spammers put all that garbage into the email.. not sure what it is or what it does but its not a virus. Sometimes its at the beginning and end of spam and sometimes all the email contains is the random jibberish.

On the other hand.. maybe it is a virus.. as a general rule dont open email from anyone you dont know and scan mail from people you do know.

Unless you have several hundred online friends/associates.. you should be able to tell whats real mail and what isnt. Get mailwasher and begin filtering this junk before it gets to your inbox.

Can i suggest downloading AVG Anti-virus, it works with Outlook and other email clients, and automatically deletes any infected emails before they can do any damage, so you will never have to worry about such situations

Download it at

AVG Anti virus Click here
