I am still fighting to get SpyBot to work correctly and I am unable to post my message on their forum even after I log in. When I search for online updates it goes through the progress thing and somewhere in the middle it stops and says: "Error retrieving update info file!" I tried everything I can think of, even uninstalled it, downloaded again and re-installed it. Same thing. Then I set the proxy address and, again, same thing. Could someone please tell me what I am doing wrong? The other problem I still have with it is that I am unable to "Fix Problems". THe message says that "Datei "C:WINDOWS\SYstem32\drivers\hosts" kann nicht erstellen werden. Access is denied" I assume this means it can't find the file "hosts". I posted this message in an earlier post and someone responded that it should not be looking for this file in the directory named. But I have no idea how to corrected. Please help.

Can you use the e-mail option?It's on the same page as the forum.Info& license>credits will give a link to e-mail the developer.Another option is to go to spywareinfo.com and ask for assistance there.I know that some of the Spybot support team members frequent that forum,as well as a few advanced users of Spybot.I haven't had any of those error messages on my xp home operating system.So I don't know the fix for those problems.Spywareinfo.com has knowledgable people though.The developer is really good too if you can contact him via e-mail.Spywareinfo.com support forum might be quicker.Hope this helps you.JB

hello i had to manualy d/l the updates and install them to there proper folders and than it would work and up date properly.

Have you tried Uninstalling rebooting redownloading and reinstalling it.

Not positive about the error (not sure what erstellen means) but it looks an access/permissions error attempting to update or overwrite the host file. Are you logged on with local admin rights or looked at the security on the host file?

this probably won't help much with the main problem, but when i downloaded SpyBot, i had an option of which language to download. if you don't have the english version, it may help to get it instead. *** BY THE WAY... "kann nicht erstellen werden" means "CANNOT BE REPLACED." I assume it is saying that the file cannot be overwritten or something. yuds
