I recently discovered the Vundo Trojan on my computer, and removed it after several attempts using the Symantec Vundo Fix tool and process explorer. I also discovered at the same time that I had ipmon.exe on my computer, and removed that, with some difficulty.
Ever since then, my computer has been really really slow to start up, and every time I start up (and at other times), the computer tries to connect to my ADSL connection (via speed touch USB modem). It never succeeds to connect automatically because the password is incorrect. However, when I connect myself, for example when opening internet explorer, it connects OK. The automatic connection does not happen if I boot to windows in safe mode.
NIS is not detecting any virus and Adaware does not detect any spyware.
Any ideas what is going on and what I can do about this? Any help or suggestions are gratefully received.
Matthew

Did you disable System Restore before running the fix?
Life is more painless for those who are brainless.

Yes I did the fix as per instructions, with system restore disabled. Unfortunately that now means I can't restore to an earlier date......
Matthew

unfortunately many people overlook this scan http://www.spywareinfo.com/xscan.php
run that and remove all it finds. Also try the winsock fix:

Hopefully my advice will help you...Please post back with your results....thanks

This didn't solve the problem but I have now found winlogonhook trojan as well. I am trying to remove it using spysweeper. any other hints?
Matthew

OK, which program found winlogonhook?
You mentioned trying spysweeper, is that the trial or paid version?Hopefully my advice will help you...Please post back with your results....thanks

Spysweeper fully paid version found winlogonhook. It also found trojan phisher US-15 or something (sorry not at that computer at the moment - can't remember details).
Do you think spysweeper will be able to remove both of these or is some other software likely to be needed?Matthew

Spysweeper managed to remove everything. The problem has now gone away - thanks for your help.
Matthew

Thanks for posting back!
