Hi my compuer was infected with Smitfaud hijack which I tried to remove using the method described on other reputable sites.I followed this procedure to the point where Cleanup should be intalled. However during installation it came up with the same errors that my startup application display: the application did not initialise properly (0x0000005).Other people have had this error ,but so far no solution provided. The computer does not have any internet connection since the hijack occurred.I also get the following error (RUNDLL: error loading newdev.dll:). I have move the infected drive to another computer to run virusscan (AVG & Nod32 & Norton2005, Housecall,& Activescan)(Adaware SE Spybot )--no joy. help on this problem would be appreciated. Thanks

Are you saying you get this error message when you run any executeable files?

Hi, the executables in my startup all show this error, startup apps include McAfee Internet Security, jusched,SNDmon, etc. MSofice apps work fine.I have pasted a URL which describes my problem http://forum.aumha.org/viewtopic.php?p=81751
(( . Tried various things suggested by different help sites, which afraid II'm can't trace now, and now I can't get her computer online. I tried running Adaware, and then more recently Spybot, but get an error that "... application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000005)..." I uninstalled her LinkSys wireless modem and tried to reinstall it, and got an error: RUNDLL Error Loading Newdev.dll Invalid Access to Memory Location. I then connected her computer directly from the modem via Ethernet. Still can't get online.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!))

Thanks

It wouldn't hurt to run the exefix:

Have you ever posted a hijack this log? You can post that here. I will be back online later to check it out.
