This start-space.com has taken over my web home page. The addresss reads search-space.com. I can't find any info on this. It is aggravating me to death. Why can't I get rid of it?

I could not get rid of it using any of the above mentioned programs.. FOr me it relates to a actively running dll named razi.dll. I ended up adding search-space.com to my dns hosts table that pointed to googles IP.
Anyways.. good luck.

Get CWShredder.
I had the same problem and spybot and adaware did not solve. I ran shredder, and no more problems!
