Standby mode error!

Hi again..I set my system to standby mode, i left my pc for about 2h and when came back..nothing worked! i tried to push the power button but nothing..monitor was turned off, and probably hd too..i tried to restart but nothing..The only choice was to pull out the main power and then turn on..what was happenned?? i have winXP pro SP2 Ready..Steady..Doom!
