SPYW_GHOSTLOG.38
I had Trend Micro 2005 and Spy Sweeper installed on my computer. Spy Sweeper expired around 1/1/06. I turned it off to eliminate the nag screen asking me to re-subscibe.
On 2/8/06 I installed Trend Micro 2006. Yesterday, I uninstalled the old version of Spy Sweeper and installed the new version of Spy Sweeper. While it was running its first sweep, it identified Ghost Keylogger, which had been sitting in a folder on the second partition of the HDD. Almost simultaneously, Trend Micro began to report SPYW_GHOSTLOG.38. Ghost Keylogger was deleted.
I’ve run both Trend Micro and Spy Sweeper several times. I’ve also explored the registry for syncagent.exe and I’ve explored the drives for SYNCAGENT.DLL and SYNCAGENT.CFG but still will have the Trend Micro notification for SPYW_GHOSTLOG.38 pop up.
I tried to run Trend Micro in safe mode but could not.
Any suggestions?

Maybe we can find the virus with Hijack This. Please post a HT log.You can download Hijack This at this link http://www.tomcoyote.org/hjt/ then place it into a folder of it's on, such as C:\HJT, so that back up copies can be made and not clutter your desktop or other folders and the backup copies of deleted items can be easily located if needed.
Once saved double click HijackThis.exe, and press "Scan". When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save Log" button.
Press that, save the log, Ctrl-A to Select All, and copy its contents into the text editor at this forum.Do not fix anything yet unless you know what you are doing. This is a powerful tool that can crash the computer if used improperly.

Hi jabuck. Thanks for your advice. Here is the log file:

I don't see anything in the HT log that would indicate SPYW_GHOSTLOG.38's presence.Delete guarantines and logs from both tremdmicro and spysweeper.
Since it normally runs from a temp file please download "crap cleaner" from this link to your desktop ccleaner and run it to clean out all your temp files. Make sure there is not anything in the recycle bin that you need as ccleaner will delete recycle bin items unless checked not to do so. After running it run trendmicro or spysweeper and if you still pick up the virus post the spysweeper and trendmicro logs then continue.
To look a little deeper please download silentrunners from this link http://www.silentrunners.org/Silent%20Runners.vbs
Click on the Silent Runners.vbs icon to open the program
Then click OPEN and YES in the next screen.
Let the program run its course. It will tell you when it has finished its work
This will generate a text file on your desktop called "Startup Programs ...".
Save this report for your next reply.Download Ewido Security Suite then set it up this way Ewido Setup Instructions reboot into Safe Mode and run Ewido
When the scan has completed, Ewido will create a report.txt file. Click the "Save Report" button on the bottom of the screen and save the log to your desktop.
Please reboot into normal mode and post the ewido log.

jabuck, thank you for your advice.
I didn't see anything on the HiJack This log either. I posted it on their analysis site and they didn't pick anything on the log either.
I ran "crap cleaner" and a Webroot utility called Windows Washer.
I just ran Trend Micro and Spy Sweeper and did not pick up any unwanted items.
Hopefully the problem is solved but I guess I'll wait to see if "the other shoe drops".
Thanks so much for your advice!!!!!!!!!
