When my computer is idle or sometimes starting up, I get a message, McAfee has found suspect file, use virus scan. When in scan for virus or spyware, I do not find anything. Also I am getting a pop up box called "e monitor."

I have some good free programs listed on 1 webpage in the red link with basic instructions. D/L and run those free progs to begin with.

Then do this free on-line scan:
http://www.spywareinfo.com/xscan.php
and remove everything it finds

Some HELP in posting on Cnet plus free progs and instructions Glad to Help!

Hi Lisa22, I'm sorry, that prog is not listed on that page, I have no idea where you got it from
**I used Xp Micro remover**
Are you talking about x-cleaner?
If so, it is free and you can run it as many times as you like.

Thanks, yes I ment X-Cleaner. However, I had to reinstall my mcafee virus softwear. AOL now has a new virus softwear. Everything seems cleared up now.

lisa, IMO, I would dump McAfee if I were you and try Avast Free and Comodo Free firewall and then use Spyware terminator as your real-time anti-spyware. The reason being, Norton and McAfee are the most resource hogs, as well as almost any kind of security suite and can slow your PC to a crawl. Especially if you also use AOL software. The best AOL software right now is AOL VR
That is just a thought.

Also a question, are you on AOL dial-up or AOL DSL?
