Here is go with my girlfirend's computer again. (WinME)

She has a number of sites which require cookies to partake in the connection.. some secure sites, things of that nature.

I installed Spybot which shows a whole raft of pretty common Spyware, the normal stuff we all see the first time Spybot is run.

So... how do I get rid of the bad stuff while retaining the good stuff. Unfortunately, I don't see any way of differentiating between the two. I can't tell which cookie belongs to which site, who set the cookie, etc..

Any ideas?

Thanks d

Does't Spybot show what type of cookie it is when you highlight that entry? A lot of cookies are obvious as to what site they are from and what they are. The cookie from computint.net is easy to identify for example. Find your cookie folder and look at all the cookies and you should be able to tell which ones you want to keep.

Most of the cookies that Spybot identifies though are not your cookies for forums and good sites. If you want to great way to control cookies and choose which ones to accept and to block, CookieWall is a great little program that does not use much resources. Anytime a site tries to put down a cookie, you get a warning asking whether or not you want to accept it. Once you accept one or reject one, it will not ask you about that same one again. You can get it at www.analogx.com, freeware.

RealTme Cookie Cleaner has been effective for me for the past couple of years. It deletes all cookies by default but gives you the option of adding ones you need to a "cookie jar" so's you can access sites you need or trust. Used in conjunction with Spybot etc. it works out well.
