Spware today took over the desktop properties, but still allows operating of other functions. Ad-aware, and other like products are unsuccessful in removing the beast. Short of rebuilding the hard drive, any suggestions? Ray

Tufenuf - Could you describe those possible fixes? It is possible that this is not a spyware issue, but has all the signs of it. For example, initially, the background went completely black with large red centered letters saying "CRITICAL WARNING - system will now shut down - run spyware program" Now, all of other system programs ran just fine, but when you go into the desktop, properties and try to return to your normal desktop config, you are not allowed to select another config. The screen is now a blue background - the computer runs a little slower, but ... that is what this all about Ray
