Hi, I was wondering if anyone can help me. i recently had noticed my PC was sluggish and also activity going on when I wasnt running anything. Ran ad aware and found i had these problems:
Microgaming
spyarsenal homekeylogger
h@t keysh@@k
lots and lots of tracking cookies.
I fixed the problem in adaware but problems keep returning. ad aware now says it finds win32.download.trojan.
i kept deleting, but it kept returning. i was told to download ewido, which i did, that found hundreds of tracking cookies again, plus highjacker.agent.a, which i quarentined. have scanned with AVG, no viri found, just cant seem to shift the spyware problem, can anyone help?

Sara, Update your Ad-Aware definitions then run another scan. That win32.download.trojan it's finding is most likely a false positive and the latest definition update corrected the problem.

Adaware Update SE1R123 13.09.2006

This fixes a False Positive in Adware.AdMedia.
This fixes a False Positive in TrojanBackdoor.Serv-U.
This fixes a False Positive in BargainBuddy.
This fixes a False Positive in Win32.Trojan.Agent.
This fixes a False Positive in Win32.Trojan.Downloader.

hiya, thanks for the response.
I updated my ad aware and the win32.trojan.downloader was gone, but the microgaming is back, i know this is to do with the ladbrokes poker i play, ewido doesnt flag this as a problem, not sure how dangerous this microgaming is. Another thing, while ad aware was scanning, my AVG popped up with 2 virus alerts 'trojan horse generic2.a' i clicked heal and it seems to have done that. is there anyhting else i can do to make sure everything is running ok?
thanks again for your help.

hiya, i have looked at that site, i downloaded the removal tool, the 'free' scanner, which i installed, scanned, then found i would have to pay to have the program remove microgaming. i see the manual instructions but i'm not very confident with my pc i'm a little scared to try it manually (lol, sorry) are there any truly free microgaming removal tools about? i've downloaded 3 programs in the last day or so claiming to be free, but then demand a subscription to remove anything they find. I dont mean to sound cheap, I'm just a poor student, so anything help is appreciated lol.

hiya, i ran ewido this morning and it was clear, i then updated my ad aware and ran it again and its picked up the microgaming again, i deliberately closed ad aware without treating microgaming, then ran ewido again, it didnt pick it up, but has dectected over 50 tracking cookies (is that normal?) I'm at a loss now.

Tracking cookies are normal, the cache/cookies can be cleared out with the help of small programs such as :
System Security Suite
Clean Up
ATF Cleaner
All are free!!

Also To remove Microgaming go to start/control panel/add & remove programs , then click on microgaming, then click on remove.
When you have the program removed , download and run Reg Cleaner and then click on the tool tab at the top and clik on registry clean up,then automatic reg cleaner and this will clean out any remaining registry keys left behind

hi again guys, thanks so much for trying to help me with this :)

ok, i ran the online spyware scan and deleted what it found.
I looked in add remove progs for microgaming but its not there. i'm fairly sure its attached to ladbrokes poker i play, not sure if i can get rid of it without getting rid of ladbrokes ( hope not, i'm secretly addicted to poker! lol)
i downloaded regcleaner and actually trembled when i saw it running (no idea where to start), so i have now tried regscrubxp (which isnt as scary) i clicked regscrub find problems and it detected 93 problems, which it fixed.

Just letting you know, i've just completed scans with ewido, ad aware and AVG. avg was clear, and both ewido and ad aware only picked up a few tracking cookies :)

Hopefully everything is sorted now.

thanks to Tufenuf, Bob and XpUser4Real for all your help :)

haha, very good point, i was using zonealarm anti virus and firewall package, but was told to switch to AVG instead and use windows firewall. in the past i have had problems with windows firewall causing sound problems on chat programs i use, also other connection problems i can't really recall (sorry) so i'm not sure whether to use a separate firewall again. can you suggest any good free ones?

Hi Bob, you are welcome
Hi Sara, I would suggest Avast! 4 home edition
instead of AVG. Avast gives real-time AV protection and online updates as you surf the net. No muss no fuss and no scheduled scans.
Let it do a bootscan on reboot and any problems, just move them to the chest. Don't try any other fixes. It will work great.

I also use the free Comodo Firewall and so far so good, although, the XPSP2 firewall is also ok for home use.
Just be sure to COMPLETELY remove Zone Alarm, cuz if you don't, you may have trouble getting other AV's to work. Good Luck

Also, do an free Active X On-line Spyware Scan
and remove all it finds.

Hopefully my advice will help you...Please post back with your results....thanks

Hi.

Good advice about removing all of ZA.Use RegScrubXP after uninstalling ZA and a reboot.
Download Comodo first though. It is an excellent firewall!
