Hi guys I need you help on this problem:

Since yesterday morning my PC's starting to popping up "system messages" saying that I've been infected with spywares. Later in the day it's saying that I've been infected with iworm_attack at the lower right hand corner.

My IE kept popping up after I use it everytime the infected message pops up. I don't know what to do.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks :)

Here's a screenshot of my current situation, the iworm_attack message's not showing up anymore but I'm sure if it's still there or not.

I installed the software and run the scan, it did came up with a bunch of trojans, adwares, and spywares. But whenever I tried to quarantine/delete them after the scan, the software unexpectively ended every time.

Download SmitRem.exe and save the file to your desktop.
Doubleclick it and choose install. This will create a new folder on your desktop with the name smitrem.

Open the smitRem folder, then double click the RunThis.bat file to start the tool. Follow the prompts on screen.
Wait for the tool to complete and disk cleanup to finish.
Reboot back into Windows normal mode.
Do a search for "smitfiles.txt" usually found a C:\smitfiles.txt and post the results of the scan.

Please post a Hijack This log so that the files associated with the virus/spyware/hijacker can be identified.

Please download HJTsetup.exe from this link http://www.thespykiller.co.uk/files/HJTsetup.exe to your desktop.
Doubleclick on the HJTsetup.exe icon on your desktop.
By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Hijack This.
Continue to click "next" in the setup dialogue boxes until you get to the "Select Addition Tasks" dialogue.
Put a check by "Create a desktop icon" then click "Next" again.
Continue to follow the rest of the prompts from there.
At the final dialogue box click "Finish" and it will launch Hijack This.
Click on the "Do a system scan and save a logfile" button. It will scan and the log should open in notepad.
Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log and post it in this thread.

Do not fix anything yet unless you know what you are doing. This is a powerful tool that can crash the computer if used improperly.

just a quick question before doing the steps you've mentioned:

C:\Program Files\AWS is my Weatherbug folder

and

C:\Program Files\KuGoo3 is the folder for my Chinese p2p sharing software

are these two folders infected with warez and viruses?

Weatherbug is a know spyware and the other is a portal that viri and spyware can travel through. I'm not familar with KuGoo3 but the hits I get indicate removal as is most p2p file sharing (not all).

That choice is yours of course.

You have been reinfected by smitrem probably from the restore folder.

Please reboot your computer in Safe Mode

Open the SmitRem folder, then double click the RunThis.bat file to start the tool. Follow the prompts on screen.
Wait for the tool to complete and disk cleanup to finish.
Reboot back into Windows normal mode.

Do a search for "smitfiles.txt" usually found a C:\smitfiles.txt and post the results of the scan.

Run ATF-Cleaner from safe mode.Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Under Main choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.

Empty the restore folder. Go to start>control panel>system>system restore tab>check the box beside "turn off system restore>apply (takes a minute)>ok. Go back and uncheck the box to turn system restore back on>apply>ok.

Post a new kaspersky scan please.

You should uninstall NBA2006 then reinstall in later.

This needs to be removed:

F:\System Volume Information\_restore{B37680B2-BA0A-4E5D-BF30-83E44C588624}\RP752\A0087188.exe Infected: Backdoor.Win32.Hupigon.rc skipped

If may be the source of the reinfection.

Usually doing this purges the restore folder:

Go to start>control panel>system>system restore tab>check the box beside "turn off system restore>apply (takes a minute)>ok. Go back and uncheck the box to turn system restore back on>apply>ok.

I've deleted the entire NBA2006 folder, hope that'll do it.

and I've got a problem with deleting:
F:\System Volume Information\_restore{B37680B2-BA0A-4E5D-BF30-83E44C588624}\RP752\A0087188.exe

the above folder name is not showing up even if I've selected show all hidden folders and files in folder options.

I could see the folder using Winrar but it won't let me delete it. Saying that access is denied.

thanks :)

the folder's not showing up in regular windows, nor using ewido's custom scan function, even if I selected show all hidden folders and files option.

It only shows up using Winrar browser, wierd :(

That is weird.

Download killbox to your desktop from this link Killbox We will need it later in safe mode

Start Killbox place a tick next to [x]Delete on reboot "Press the All Files button"
Copy this whole list into the windows clipboard, all the bolded file paths below. Copy the following list of files to clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose copy):

F:\System Volume Information\_restore{B37680B2-BA0A-4E5D-BF30-83E44C588624}\RP752\A0087188.exe

Next in Killbox go to File > Paste from clipboard
"Click on the All Files button."
Next click on the button that has the red circle with the white X in the middle.
It will ask for confimation to delete the files on next reboot and ask you if you want to reboot now.
Click Yes and let the computer reboot. If the computer does not reboot automatically just reboot it manually.

hi jabuck:

here's the message I got when trying to delete that exe from KillBox:

"pendingfilerenameoperations registry data has been removed by external process"

therefore I was unable to delete the file using the Delete on Reboot option

I used the first option "Standard File Kill" and was able to delete the exe file successfully. Don't know if that'll do it or not.

Thanks :)
