Not when I downloaded it and ran it. It's clean ....so far. Scoured the net looking for links between WinMX and spyware and have found none ...and neither did AdAware 5.7 and Refupdate file, 25.03.2002, I believe.
KaZaa has horrible spyware, but LimeWire, Bearshare, Imesh, and some others have spyware in them too.
I am not surprised to hear from some people that there is no spyware in WinMX.
However, if you would rather use LimeWire, there is a version of it called Clean LimeWire that does not have spyware in it. It seems that someone went into the code of the program and took the spyware out.

search for kazaa lite- a hacked version without the spyware!
Spyware really irritates me - at least viruses are honest!

Just type in the name of a program you are considering downloading and it will tell you if there is any spyware in it or not.
