Hi,
IMHO the only certain way to avoid ever getting any spyware on your computer would be to remove the modem and / or NIC's and disconnect any network and or internet connections.

You will almost always pick the wretched stuff up if you use the web at all. Spyware writers are getting more and more devious.

It is for this reason that you will and do need to install and run spyware removal software regularly.

Are you a IMESH user? Anthology and its associated Stop Sign antitrojan software are offered to prevent various security problems for IMESH and some other peer to peer programs. You authorize its installation, thinking that you are getting a good and free program. Spyware Guard is not set up to prevent autorized installations approved by you, but it gets the blame for letting you down.
