I managed to get spyware on my laptop. I have downloaded Adaware, zonealarm, etc., however even though I have "removed" the spyware - I still don't have access to the internet. I have run HiJack This and am posting the log in hopes that someone can help me figure out what is wrong. I have downloaded and run several types of spyware removal software and firewalls including: Adaware, CWShredeer and Spybot. I have tried LSP-fix and have Zone Alarm to install after I remove everything. I also have Norton. Ok - according to the Logfile Analyzer (the link presented to you before posting your log) you have at least 16 entries that need to be fixed - maybe more. You may need to shut off system restore and/or work from safe mode in order to rid yourself of all the malware. The secret of life is honesty and fair dealing..if you can fake that, you've got it made.

Thanks, I downloaded the latest version of HijackThis, re-ran it, ran it through the analyzer and fixed what it said to fix. I still can't get to the internet. Any other ideas? Cheryl

I'd try rerunning LSPFix , it's the recommended tool - other than that, I don't know. The automated analysis site isn't perfect, but it does give one a place to start (these logfiles just seem to get lengthier as time goes on) The secret of life is honesty and fair dealing..if you can fake that, you've got it made.

Make sure you have enabled viewing of hidden files, folders, and extensions besides disabling system restore. Rerun all the remove tools, AdAware SE, Spybot Search and Destroy, CWShredder,Kill2me,Avert Stinger,etc. Run tools in safe mode also and in normal. Post a new HT log.

Follow jboy's recommendation for the LSP fix. It fixes a lot of internet connection problems.

She'd already tried it initially without success - possibly, once all the malware is gone it might work. At the LSPFix page there are a couple of other Winsock repair tools - don't know much about them, but worth looking into.
