I had on my machine some spyware, including UnSpyPC and something else that puts a line of large icons on the right side of my desktop that won't go away. I downloaded Ewido and attempted to get an update and a report, but each time I run Ewido, it finds a few bugs, prompts me about them, and then the whole program just disappears. I've tried this in both Safe mode and regular mode, with the same result. Also, I've tried to get the latest virus definition update for Norton AntiVirus, but the LiveUpdate procedure gets all the way to the end, then says there was a problem downloading or installing the definitions. The large icons are no longer on my desktop, but the machine is still running VERY slowly. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Ed R.

Ewido is no the best choice to protect the system. Its average program, there are better programs Both free and commercial.
if you need to see your logs, use hijackthis.
anyway you can read reviews of various antispyware programs here

Ewido right now appears to be one of the best in my testing. That review appears to be old the pix is ver. 3.0 Ewido has been at ver. 3.5 for so time now. The problem I have had is getting it to update on both my PC and when I run it from by Bert Pe boot CD. I update it manally when I update and burn a new Bert Pe ever couple weeks but it would be nice if it would update live.
