Running Spybot S&D 1.3
Every time I have tried to update since Sept 9 I get a "bad checksum" error regardless of whichever update mirror I try. Has anyone else had this problem? Should I be looking inside my system for the answer? I have run updated Anti-v, Msoft Anti-spyware and Adaware scans with nothing found.
Would an uninstal/reinstal of Spybot help?

I used to have a signature but it disappeared and I just couldn't be bothered writing another so please feel free to ingore this.

It seems the maker ceases support for older versions as soon as a new version is issued. Have updated to ver1.4. Was able to update definitions file but same "bad checksum" error when trying to get immunisation database update.

Try a different download server. Just three minute ago I downloaded 9-16 update from MalwareBytes(USA) no problem. I use v. 1.3

This is very odd. I have several PCs on my home network, with my main system running a proxyserver to share internet with the others.
I uninstalled 1.3 from each machine, installed new fresh 1.4 on each, with the following results: On Host machine as described in response 1. Subsequently rebooted the host and tried update again. this time no errors.
On 1st client machine update was succesful for definitions but failed for immunisation files. On second client machine update was succesful for immunisation files but failed for definitions. Shut down the prog on each, started up again and this time on each the previously failed update was successful.

End result is each machine is now on fully updated version 1.4 but the process was not without it's glitches. btw thanks JImDZ for the suggestion. I had tried several of the download mirrors without success. Re-starting the prog seems to have been the only way to get past the checksum errors.

I have v1.4, and for the past month at least I've been having a different problem. No errors show up, but the program freezes and I have to end with task manager. After 3-4 attempts trying different mirrors, it will download and install. This morning it froze on every mirror, but just now it was successful on MalwareBytes. Last time it succeeded was on Eon, which used to be the best mirror.

Richard59, had to restart each of my macines after installing new version (1.4) before updates would install properly. I think I remember reading something about it on their forum. It was some time ago. Something to do with registry entries at start up, hence the restart.

I found that if you select only one item download at a time, this sometimes gets the job done.

Thanks all for the input. I just tried loading it up on the third client on my lan and am getting the errors again. I cannot reboot that machine just now and She who must be obeyed is moderating a chatroom forum and I dare not interrupt again or I'll get banned from a different kind of room. I'm confident that a combination of restarts and downloading one update at a time will eventually get it right.

Spybot has been doing the same thing to me. i have no idea why. however, it does not seem to be an issue with that computer. you know where it has that list of places you can get updates from, after you search for updates? just keep trying each differant one in the list until it downloads succesfully. it seems tro have to do with the download sites rather then the individual computer. hope this helps.

Argue for your limitations and sure enough, they're yours.

Hello Folks,

I have the same problem no matter what I do. Fixed it by downloading the newest definitions directly from their webpage:
http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/
Scroll down to the middle of the page and select the Detection Updates 2005-10-21, Hope this helps you out.
