Comment:

I uninstalled and then reinstalled the same version of spybot (1.3)

Will this reinstalled one be currently up to date with all update definitions as the one that I uninstalled?

Also: Spybot found a threat called "Freshbind"-autorun (C;/windows/winnit.ini
Had to scan it 3 times before it supposedly removed it.

Earlier on, it found C2 Lop.

But neither Freshbind or C2 Lop are in the Recovery List.
When Spybot removes threats, are they not supposed to be added to the recovery list?? Thanks

Yeah, anytime you actually have some weird behaviour you should run all scanners from Safe Mode, as many things can hide in normal mode.......also do this periodically for good security practices.

Your post:

The new install will only have ref files upto the time that program version was built & relesed but,
AS YOU ALWAYS SHOULD DO ANYWAY...
Run the update before you actually run a scan for the first time, and this should catch you up on all available updates to the present.

Also re-run the "Immunize" function after every new update as well.
Good luck
