As some of you folks know, I'm a computer tech and when Ad-Aware was the program to have to remove Spyware I could have the program on CD with the latest update.
Now I prefer to use SpyBot which I have burnt to a CD but I can not simply burn the updates to a CD, at least not a way I am aware of.
So tonight I took a look at the SpyBot folders and there an Update folder but everything is in a ZIP format. I will do my own test this weekend when I have time but this is my questions.
Has anyone found out a way to burn the latest SpyBot updates to a CD, install the program and then update SpyBot via the CD and not via the internet.
Not all of my clients have high speed access and granted it doesn't take a long time to update SpyBot via a 56K connection I would rather have the option to do it via CD if I can.
Again, I will attempt to figure it out this weekend if nobody has but if someone else has it will save me leg work and give me more time to relax :)
Thanks,
KTTD
P.S SpyBot the other day picked up and reported that a system was infected with Klez, it could not clean it but I thought it was pretty cool it did detect it.

KTTD, I was wondering about that exact same thing. My daughter's computer needs Spybot, but she is too impatient to download it. I downloaded the install file and burned it to CD for her, but was also wondering about the updates.
Let me know what you find out and I'll follow this thread too.
Oh - just remembered there is a support forum for Spybot which the author frequents. That is probably a great place to ask this question.

HTH.

I read somewhere on the web, not sure where, but someone has done what you are asking.
I'll try to find it and post here.
When you get it going, are you going to be updating SPYBOT for each client from your CD or just teach each of them how to do it themselves?

If Kevins clients are anything like the people i deal with.. they will never touch the program let alone keep it updated.. most wont even know its been installed.
Kevin's just looking for a way to keep his tools updated so he can spend more time crusing around in between jobs :).

SMUOD,
The first part of what you posted :), you took the words right out of my mouth :)
KTTD,
Hmm, the last time I downloaded it. Then checked for updates. The only updates it offered were skins. I compared it to another one with all the updates (except the skins) and they were the same. Might be talking out of my other mouth :) But, that's my two cents and yes, I do understand what you're saying. Good thing to check into.

SMUOD, your right. With the warm weather coming I need all the crusing time I can get in my geek mobile to seek out the babes and the area I work in, we are talking babe heaven.
As far as the clients, I could care less if they use the program or not. I want a quick way to update the program for myself so I can get back to the above stated.
KTTD

Well, I'm certain that I originally saw this info on www.broadbandreports.com but have searched and cannot locate it now.

KTTD,
I do believe, you can download the updates separate and install them that way. They're self extracting and installing. So, I guess, you could burn the Main app. and the Updates to your CD and install it that way. If this isn't what you're looking for sorry.
Later,
I'll Try
