I am running Spybot for someone else, and when I get done, their AOL cannot connect. Does anyone know what Spybot is removing that AOL needs? Thanks.

Occasionally the removal of spyware messes up Winsock, which can cause connection difficulties. Not sure if your problem is that or else AOL specific, but you might try LSPFix (or others)
Never argue with an idiot. They will only bring you down to their level and beat you with experience

If you had spybot configured in the Advanced mode which is the mistake a lot of people do make you may have removed one the BT clients that AOl depends on to dial in to their modems if its broad band its a something totally diffent but sounds like dial client got erased. You might try do a system restore with Windows XP before the date you did the Spybot .

Thanks for the responses. I guess what I'm really asking is this: when I look at the results of Spybot, what should I tell Spybot NOT to remove in order to keep AOL working?
In other words, I want to run Spybot, and remove everything it finds except whatever it is that will screw up AOL if it is removed.
BTW, it is a dial-up connection. Thanks.

That would depend on what version of AOL I suppose?
AOL 6,7,& 8 run just fine with Spybot and have heard no complaints on AOL boards about most versions of 9 (so far) although AOL's own spyware remover has many disabled systems under it's belt......go figure!

I wouldn't use Spybot with AOL - Spybot can be a bit heavy handed & AOL relies too much on 'added extras'. AOL is more secure from baddies than a straight ISP & they put on anti-spyware stuff for you anyway (along with a load of other c**p - have you ever tried to completely uninstall AOL??). Stick to just Adaware which is a bit safer.
