I am trying to help out a friend and get her mom's computer free of it's problems (so far I have removed 550 + items between ad aware and norton scans. I am trying to run spy bot and/or spyware blaster, but when I try to download either one, I get an error saying the core files are corrupt and it won't work. I have tried downloading and deleting and redownloading from different sites, but with the same results. I know there are still a few things I haven't removed yet (180search among them), but could one of the items be causing the download problems? Or is it comething else? Thanks! JC

yes it can be a spyware/adware thing. I finally downloaded on another pc and burnt them to a cdr. then installed and ran the updates.then ran a scan in safemode, then normal mode. I also installed avg free and it found two viruses that norton missed. (that pc also had buddy.exe and ceres.dll on it and after deleting those from the c: drive and registry , it ran a lot smoother)
