Since Spybot is currently disfunctional, I want to try Adaware. Are the two very similar in function and use? Thank you.

Actually you should use both. Ad-Aware is an older product and address a larger list of Adware, porn dialers and cookies. While SpyBot goes more after Spyware programs and browser hijackers. Each program has its advantages. They use different methiods of scanning. So it is best to have both. SpyBot will be back. They often go three weeks or longer between major updates, then come out with a series of quick updates.

I use both...-ad-aware catches alot of stuff that spybot misses as JackG said. Read the help files in the program on how to set up for full scan.
I never give up!

Just to add my 2 cents worth. I've been using Spyware Blaster for a while now, and since it works in the background (and doesn't seem to use too much of my resources) I find that not too much gets through to be cleaned up by either of the excellent programs you're asking about. It seems the more the better with spyware programs. Pat
