Okay looks like I stepped into this SPyAxe cowpie now. My HiJack This log confirms I have some nasties such as mssearch . Would it be easier to just re-install the OS since I just use this PC for Web surfing?

Thanx,

Do this then post your HT log. Download Ewido Security Suite then set it up this way Ewido Setup Instructions reboot into Safe Mode and run Ewido

When the scan has completed, Ewido will create a report.txt file. Click the "Save Report" button on the bottom of the screen and save the log to your desktop in case you need it later.

Please reboot into normal mode and post the ewido log.

You need to boot into safe mode - hit F8 in the startup sequence - to prevent SpyAxe from starting and loading those &#%@ files, then run AdAware. Be sure you've downloaded the latest definition files.

I just got hijacked by SpyAxe. I have tried to eliminate the perpetual Spyaxe "Your computer is infected!" pop-up by running the most up-to-date AdAware (freeware) program scan in the "Safe" mode, but no luck. Anyone have an effective safe solution that can be followed step-by-step by a non-tech expert? I have run Norton Antivirus as well in "Safe" mode, as well. No success there.
