This interesting little behavior started on my laptop a day or so ago. Out of nowhere, between 20 and 40 Internet Explorer windows will pop up in rapid succession. I minimize them all if I can and try to find ways of stopping the flow of pop-ups, such as via Task Manager, blocking the link in the pop-ups (it's the same for each one), uninstalling Internet Explorer or restarting the computer.
Whatever is causing the pop-ups disables right-clicking and accessing anything from the Desktop or the Start menu. It also disables Firefox; pages will not load when those pop-ups exist.
I'm pretty sure it was some kind of advertisement for AOL, as that was the message I saw on some of the loaded pop-ups. I found an AOL folder and an AIM Toolbar folder in my Program files and deleted them.
Might anything else cause this kind of spamming?
