I've been given this laptop to sort out but I noticed that they have both SophosAV & NortonIS installed. The guy says it hasn't caused any problems, it seems to run well & I know there are certain combinations of AV which don't have conflicts. So, has anyone else tried/using this combination? & if so, have they had problems, specifically in finding Worms which are found during normal operation but (apparently) don't exist when scanned for.

I've never seen any reference whereby two AV applications can be installed together -- quite the opposite in fact. Two or even three web-browsers no problemo, but definitely not more than one AV. For starters, it's an uneccessary waste of resources - Norton on it's own is famous for being a resource-hog. Get rid of one, preferably Norton. I'd be surprised if you dodn't notice improved performance afterwards.

Thanks for reply - I would have said the same initially, but doing a bit of Googling, there are instances where AVG has happily sat alongside other AVs, so has F-Secure. Having these 2 running together certainly doesn't seem to slow up the system particularly but I'm going to take one off anyway, just for my own piece of mind, & at the moment it's going to be Sophos which goes - I don't like the updating system (which isn't working either automatically or manually) & even though there's an exclamation mark on the systray icon, it doesn't tell you what it's there for - I'm guessing it's because of the updates but what a daft system!
Anyway, thanks again for feedback."I know that I'm mad, I've always been mad"
