I have Windows ME, and it came with McAfee ActiveShield. Everything was OK for a while but recently I noticed that I haven't heard from it in about two months (it doesn't ask me to update or download anything or detect any viruses), so I tried to test it by scanning my computer from viruses but it won'd do anything. It opens my browser to get me to the link where the scan is done but it says the site can't be displayed. When I try to check for updates it simply won't open the browser. I can access McAfee's website but not the places where I can scan my pc or update. Is it possible that something is blocking this places for me so I can't use McAfee?
Have you tried to see if you can run an online scan at either Panda or House Call Good luck

hi mxy, sounds like you may have a trojan. you may have a bionet trojan which is prohibiting your anti-virus from working. if so, go to www.thepublicworks.com security section and click on simovits consulting, dark -e, trojan removal and finally go to pc flank for a trojan scan. someone may have inserted a bionet trojan on your computer to take it over for a number of reasons such as using your computer for Dos attacks. finally download from wilders.org an anti-trojan (30 day trial) of Trojan Hunter and scan your hard drives. if bionet or any other trojan is found, it will delete it from your registry. also check your files for these files: libupdate.exe and editor.exe if found delete them after your scan. cheers, murve
