Someone Phoned Me To Say my PC have virus

April 16, 2011 at 15:20:11
Specs: Windows Vista
Recently I got a phonecall advising that my computer is full of viruses. He asked me to open my computer and showed that there were thousands of viruses. He said that if I didnot rectify it then my computer will be gone. He quoted me $199 for one year with 8 years protection. I agreed and he asked me to turned on my computer and gave me a code and followed the instructions and then they were in control of my computer. He took about more than an hour to run through the computer and I saw it was done. Could it be that they were unloading my information from the computer for ill purposes. I found out they were installing AVG antivirus. What I am afraid now is that they could have stored all my information. I do not use internet banking but over the years there could be information about my credit cards numbers etc. Please tell me whether or not this is a malicious act through the computers.
