Hi,
i keep getting these messages on my Sygate personal fire wall.
Somebody is scanning your computer.

Ports are attacked
"Your computer's TCP ports:
135, 2745, 80, and 445 have been scanned from 61.3.96.229.."
When i block th IP address, then it is modified slightly and the attack comes again.
EX:
If 61.3.96.1 is blocked, then it reappeares as 61.3.96.296. Some times, the same addrtess is shown as the remote host. What should i do. Please help
I also tried to Backtrace info which is in vain.

Thanks
Lishen.

Not much you can do unless you want to track down these addresses and complain to whatever ISP owns this block . This is what firewalls are for to block this stuff , if it's annoying you there must be way on sygate to supress these messages .

You can find out who owns the IP address by going to arin.net. Type the IP address in the upper right portion of the screen and do a search on it.

Set Sygate tothe silent mode, so it just goes bout its job without notifying you for each blocked item, you can still check things out in the log files if you want to. Sygate also has WHOIS built into it. You can use it to back trace to see who is doing the scan. It is very common for your own ISP to be scanning you. They do this for many reasons, quailty control, billing(some ISP's charge for the actual time on the net) and system maintenance to name some of the most obvious uses.

Like capt said, nothing to worry about.

Under options, general, checkmark
"Hide notification messages" so you
can relax.

They are infected users of the ISP you have,
next time they dial-up the address will change.

Test your firewall here;
