Hi,
We have some unknown worm /virus on our network .About 10-15 PC's have lost their data i.e all excel /word files have become 0 bytes size and show empty. Not able to recover. Can someone help to know this is which virus /worm ? How to remove ? How to recover lost files contents ? Is there any free utility available on net for this ?

To recover the lost files, there are loads of programs that claim to do this. Some I have tried and they do work.
It would be best to install the program on a spare PC, then slave your hard drive to the spare PC and search it. If you installed the file search program on the same hard drive that you wanted to search, you may overwrite the files you are tyring to find.
Two free programs to recover files are..... PC Inspector & Disk Investigator. I don't have the web addresses at hand but you can Google.com search for them.
One last thing- I would suggest you don't use the PC in the meantime and DO NOT DEFRAGMENT!!!!! The risk of overwriting the lost data to too great!
