I left the room for a few minutes and something (unknown) was claiming to have just finished installing itself on my laptop.

I was to late to stop it and it said I needed to restart my laptop - I'm worried about what the implications of doing so may be!

I have 2 firewalls, 2 anti-virus programs, 1 ad-aware program + 1 spyware program. I haven't opened. I have run all these programs and it has come back with nothing.

How do I find out what might have downloaded itself?

It didn't say what it was, that's the problem.

It just said it was software.

I don't have MickeySoft, and my anti-virus software, when updating always gives its name.

Besides this wasn't an update - it clearly said installation.

Err...I think MickeySoft was just a joke name for Microsoft.

Do a file search for the dates concerned. With a bit of effort you should then be able to work out what has been installed. Pay particular attention to anything new that has arrived in Program Files.

Go to System Tools, system recovery, and find out the latest software installed.

You are wasting your time. When the poster hasn't bothered to come back to say anything for 12 days then it is rudeness and disinterest.

Well OK, taken ill, computer blew up, killed under a road roller, etc etc.
