Okay, I had a virus problem yesterday (don't remember what is was) but it disabled my .exe files for all of my Zone alarm executables and my .exe files for my virus protection software. Anyway....

I am now going to be heading to a store and purchase a firewall and a virus protection package. What do I look for?

I would like to keep the total price under $150 if possible.

Thanks

Mike

Thanks Dog, I already use Adaware and AVG, so I am half way there. When I get home tomorrow I will check into the other programs.

Thanks again

For years I have used Symantec Firewall and Trend Micro PC Cillin. Never had a virus or hacker get past those two. In a couple of benchmark tests, PC Cillin was one of the few AV proggies that scored 100% kill.

Under $150? Easy! Norton AV (NOT internet security) $45. Router $30.

I have been hit by the same virus last weekend.I have no clue what it is,might be an update of My Doom.

I have the same problems,I can not run any antivirus,Zonealarm is also inactive,I can not surf to any antivirus web site,I don't have access to any of the administrative tools....

I found some weird entries in a couple of the registries, deleted them but no use.

What can I do?????????

I hate the thought to have to format the HDD and to reinstall Windows.

How did you remove the bug?

Thanks

Rux

Some updates....

I have managed to do a virus scan with Norman in the safe mode and found a version of the W32.Netsky and a version of W32.Mimail.Have been removed but the problem now is that the damage has been done and I am trying to find out how to fix it.I still can not reach antivirus web sites, the antivirus and the firewall still can not be activated in the normal mode,I still can not access the administration tools even that I am logged in as the administrator.

On the top of these,I tried to run a repair, booting from the XP OEM CD but the password with which I am normally logging in as an administrator is not recognized.

Ideas,anyone,please?

Thanks

Rux
