Comment:

i tried to use system restore, and it wont restore, i ran smitfraud fix without a virus and now my computer takes significantly longer to boot. I had a virus, and it cleaned it out earlier, and made my computer run like new, so i thought it would be a good idea as maint. to use the program, it seems that was a foolish idea, does anyone know how to fix this????

"my computer takes significantly longer to boot"

At which point in the boot process is is taking longer? The black XP screen, coming up to the desktop, or in the BIOS.

If it's the XP black screen, I would run WinsockXPFix, do a search in google and download it from snapfiles.

Then run hijack and make sure there are not any random services loading either from the services.msc applet or manually search the registry.

after windows boots, to the User selection screen. i enter my pass and the desktop picture loads up, from that point on it takes about 60-120 secs to load the icons drivers and auto execute programs i.e. i-tunes, my spyware/virus protection software, etc.

PS thanks for responding
