Monday night I noticed, while watching TV, that my harddrive(s) was constantly spinning while at idle. It would not stop. Since then, I have not been able to use my PC without waiting for each app to load. It took Firefox about 2 minutes for the window to appear after I double clicked on the icon?!?!?! I ran Spydoctor, Spybot, Symantec's 360, Adware Scans, etc. Was going to try Hijack This when I get home this evening. After all the scans last night, my pc would not shutdown or respond at all without serious serious delay. It will reboot fine (once I can finally get it to shutdown), but extremely unresponsive once the desktop is active. PLEASE HELP....I'm off of work tomorrow and been waiting all week to get some more of The Orange Box. (what a great collection of games by the way)

an easy way to safely shut down is to hold in the power button untill it shuts down.

Sounds like it could be the game apps that are causing the problem. If it just started a few days ago, try a system restore:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/...
back to when it was fine.

Some HELP in posting on Cnet plus free progs and instructions Glad to Help!
