Ok I am a fairly regular user here (I just dont post often) and I have kinda come up against a wall...I have noticed that a few of my sites that I go to everyday are taking AGES to load even while using IE , Mozzila or MSN explorer . My connection speed is the same.

I have done a scan with adaware , spybot search and destory and pc-cillin and all have come up clean (all are updated as well)

So does anyone have any idea if this could be some sort of spyware or is it something else?

Thanks!

It could be either!

My cable modem slowed to 56K-modem speed sometime after loading SP2. I did not find any spyware or other bugs in the system. As soon as I restored an earlier backup of XP with Service Pack-1, my speed shot back up to where it should be.

It could be a problem at your service providers end or even the number of users sharing cable access at any given time.

The best answer I can give you is that I dont have a clue as to why your netspeed is down. There is simply no standard answer to that kind of question.

If you are getting a lot of "hits" on your IP address, maybe you should just power down your modem over night if you can. Hopefully this will result in a new IP address the next day, one with less hits.

I have recently had the same sort of problem, were some web pages, including one stored on my system (a copy of my web page), take almost a full minute to come up instead of seconds! Yet other web pages respond normal. Rebooting usually fixes that problem until it occurs again after about four or five days of running. This only started happening after the recent IE Security update Q867801, so it could be a M$ IE bug/plot to move users to XP and its new Sp2. When I first installed Q867801 I also started having problems with the AutoComplete and address drop down list not showing up for almost a minute! Finally had to completely clear all of IE's history and tracking files to clear that problem up.

Yeah my internet is lagging in response to clicks after installing SP2. The downstream and upstream speed are still the same but when you click on a link, it takes a few seconds before the page starts to load, a very slow response.

I'm having exactly the same problem as rs008f.

I discovered that bypassing my Linksys BEFSR41 router and connecting the computer directly to the (Roadrunner) cable modem "fixed" the problem.

Any ideas or observations?

Thanks
