siren noise when i connect to internet

Specs: Windows XP

i was using my laptop all this morning with no worries. this evening i've turned it on to check my email and as soon as the internet connects and my homepage is loaded the siren noise starts any ideas please thank you it's my only means of communication as i'm house bound at the moment and could not be without it could it be a virus ? i have anti virus all be it free windows security essentials but it's worked great so far.

I'm getting the same siren noise and old-style gaming music noise also. Google wouldn't load properly and then certain letters on the keyboard wouldn't function from the google page only.

I've also been using the free version of AVG which scanned for viruses and didn't identify any.

Google's banner today is an implementation of the 30-year old Pac-Man game. The noises you hear are probably from that game. If you have the Google home page open, you should see it running, and you should be able to play it.

It's possible that it will not run properly on your computer - perhaps an outdated Java runtime?
