... can'nt the "Avira" help you and remove the virus?

... is there not an option in the settings of the Avira antivirus to click to remove it?

I'm using the Free Avira, but when it bring up the remove, repair, ignore screen it says unable to fix, but you can download a rootkit program from our site. I downloaded it, but it doesn't work. I've even formatted the whole F drive and it's still screwing up.

"...I've even formatted the whole F drive..."

... if you do the below you'll loose any relevant boot record info esp if you have other drive(s) options to boot to:

... you could unhook the other drives(?)

... I'd be inclined to boot off the xp cd to repair (r) console then @ command prompt (type)

FDISK /MBR [press enter]

... also try this if you still have problems:

I tried this earlier in the week and when I went to R it took me to the system recovery screen. I didn't get a DOS like screen.

Okay now I'm going to see if I can get that screen to come up, but how would I direct it to check my second hard drive which is Drive F instead of Drive C which is the one that's working correctly?

It's a totally different hard drive. Also C is my main one, so would the system disk still work without my main hard drive being in?

Awesome! It worked. I had to make my secondary drive my main drive and when I went into my recovery CD it knew what to do. It replaced files that were removed by virus, etc.
