I run Kerio firewall, Vshield, VirusScan console, MacAfee Works and Pop-Up Stopper.
I was still getting incessant pop-ups but mostly script error reports, which were worse.
Checked with Panicware (who produce Pop-Up Stopper) and found another free download; Pop-Up Scanner.
This removed PurityScan Ad Server, which purports to be a pop-up stopper but is in fact precisely the opposite.
Haven't had a pop-up since.
Panicware people are geniuses and I swear I'm actually gonna buy something from them soon!
So simple a solution (I thought the script error reports were a function of IE or XP itself) yet so effective.

Do NOT click above on the underlined, active word SERVER!
It will install ad-ware (not Ad-Aware) automatically.

Sorry. I didn't dare try it. Just assumed it was a direct link to the a**holes who flooded me with pop-ups for weeks.
