Run this free online scan from Panda

If you think you have vundo or winfixer download SpySweeper from this link http://www.spywaredb.com/remove-win32-vundo-522752trojan/

Choose download SpySweeper from this line:

Delete Win32/Vundo.522752!Trojan automatically >>> Get PestPatrol or Download SpySweeper at the above link

Then download and run ccleaner to clean out all your temp files. Make sure there is not anything in the recycle bin that you need as ccleaner will delete recycle bin items unless checked not to do so..

Then download, update and run these spyware removal programs

Adaware SE and once you get it updated go back to the link and install the vx2 cleaner and follow the directions to install it the run it. This updated tool will remove most vx2 infections including Look2Me.

Spybot

cwshredder use the stand alone version.

Purge System Restore by shutting it down and restarting it.

To create a new restore point go Start>Run>type "msconfig" without the quotes>ok>Launch System Restore>Tick the circle beside "create a restore point">next>name it anything you wish>Create>home>restart the computer.

If that don't help You will most likely need to post a Hijack This log so that the files associated with the virus can be identified. You can download Hijack This at this link http://www.tomcoyote.org/hjt/ then place it into a folder of it's on, such as C:\HJT, so that back up copies can be made and not clutter your desktop or other folders and the backup copies of deleted items can be easily located if needed.

Once saved double click HijackThis.exe, and press "Scan". When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save Log" button.
Press that, save the log, Ctrl-A to Select All, and copy its contents into the text editor.

Do not fix anything yet unless you know what you are doing. This is a powerful tool that can crash the computer if used improperly.

If you turn off system restore first then go to Safe Mode you will probably be able to remove the files you mentioned.

I can't be certain whether it is safe to remove them tho (my guess FWIW is 'yes').

It could be anything. RAM problem, video problem... If the machine shuts off, how are you able to log into Windows?

let me explain more about my problem. This problem started for no reason. I was using my laptop and suddently my ponitor shut off and i heard (beeeep beep-beep-beep beep-beep-beep beeeep)sound. but my power light was still on, but i think the hard drive and cd drive shut off too. When i reset it and turnd it on again it worked for about 2 or 3 minutes and samething happend again. the more i turnd it on the faster it shut off. on the next day it worked longer and the more i turnd it on the faster it shut off.
I had this laptop for about 2 month and had no problems. I had Norten antivirus program and all the virus deffinitions updated. I was just wondering is there a way to find out what is wrong with the computer the the type of beeps it makes?

If you Google around using your card details you should be able to find out what the number of beeps. It depends on your BIOS (you usually see BIOS type & numbers on the screen if you get that far).

Run DocMemory to test RAM (you create a floppy and boot with it). You could also clean RAM and Display Card edge connecters with pencil eraser and pull items in and out a few times to clear any tarnish from sockets.

Just in case you need to try my para 2 in #5:

DocMemory is a free program that tests your memory.
If you go here you can get the free (older) version, which is fine:
DOCMEMORY

You download it on any working computer with a floppy disk drive and save the file somewhere on its hard disk. Insert a blank floppy and double click the file you saved, in order to create a boot floppy to test your RAM.

Take this floppy to the computer with problems, pop it in the drive and then power up. Follow what it tells you and it will test your memory (RAM). If it shows any problem then you have RAM trouble so shout back and we can take it further.

Hey Derek. Thanks for your help.
I ran a few of Symantec virus removal tools and the CCleaner program and my computer got a lot better. The Symantec tools only found one file infected with the “Trojan.Ladear” and the CCleaner removed the temp. files that i couldn’t remove. The computer now works for a long time but the screen still shuts off. I also noticed that every time it shuts off the CD drive starts working. The little light starts flashing and I can hear it trying to do something. ( maybe my CD drive is infected of broken) Also when my screen shuts off I think the hard drive shuts off too because when it shuts of in the middle of some kind of proccess the hard drive light stops flashing. I was thinking maybe I removed the virus the brock my computer but the problem still remains. Also using the Ccleaner program i found wierd start up programs on my PC. Names like

AVGNT.EXE” /min
cftmon.exe
desktop.ini

and others that i am not sure that they are very good. (maybe i should delete some of those)
Also when i turned on my computer once on the first screen with all the memory tests it said that my System BIOS and Video BIOS are shadowed. ( is that bad?) and i got a error code like this:

ERROR
0280: Previes boot incomplete --- default configuration used.

Also, can it be that something is broken like the fan and the computer over heats and that’s why it shuts off?

One more thing. is there a good computer scan that can tell me all the problems with my computer?

The three files you mentioned are legitimate (although there have been odd cases where good file names are taken by a virus just to fool you).

Here's some info:
BIOS SHADOWING

Seems like the above website doesn't rate it for a modern machine. To turn it off you need to invoke the BIOS menu. The way in depends on your BIOS I'm afraid. Sometimes you hit Del key whilst booting and other times it's an F key. Then you have to find the shadowing feature and no two BIOS's are alike. No harm trying to get in there but the golden rule is if you get confused or do something wrong then just Exit without making changes.

Did you run DOCMEMORY to test RAM?

Did you find out what continuous beeps mean for this machine? It most certainly indicates a hardware problem and I accept that opening up laptops is not so easy as a desktop machine. A fan problem is possible, or even power supply, but my 'guess' is RAM.

Worth stopping that shadowing though if you can fathom it out. Your error message sounds like it's saying it set BIOS to defaults (maybe that includes shadowing).

Sorry to say there is no magic program that tests everything.

Nice lot of words but I accept they are probably not much help. Could be worth a repost because it seems like it's just you and I right now. I'm more familiar with W98 than XP but the principles are the same.

The info about the BIOS Shadowing was very usefull. however i didn't find directions on how to turn off video BIOS shadowing. Now i am thinking that my video card is broken of something. I give up. Probably going to just give it to the professionals to fix it at the shop. tanks a lot for your help. I found very good usefull programs for my PC on that website that you gave me.

Hardware problems are not so easy to fix with laptops than desktops, so I understand your reluctance to dive inside it.

Might well be RAM or video card (or even just edge connector tarnish on one or both).

Good luck with it anyway - hope it doesn't break the bank.
