Should MSN firewall be on?

With all the virus and hacking going on do you think the xp firewall should be turned on, I have a firewall and virus protection but have never let xp firewall turn on, do you recommend it?

Well, if you already have a software firewall running, you have no need to turn the XP firewall on. Also, if you have two firewalls running at the same time, they're bound to interfere with each other.

The rule of thumb is that, if you already have a good firewall configured and running, there's no reason to enable a second (software) firewall, since they might conflict.

You can, however, use a router (hardware firewall) for additional protection.
