I would like to ask if its ok to allow access to the internet for lsass.exe. I understand that it is an essential part of windows and resides in system32, also that contrary to popular belief it is not a trojan. However, recently lsass.exe has been requesting access to the internet and i am now not sure if i should allow it or why it wants access. I have two pc's networked through a router if this is relevent. Thanks in advance for any help.

Are you positive it's lsass and not isass? What's indicative to you that it's trying to access the internet? Your firewall? If so, what software are you running?

Hi, yes it is lsass.exe and not isass, i have checked this many times. I am using McAfee firewall which informs me that lsass.exe is requesting outbound access to the internet, what would i like to do. For now i have blocked it, but i really do not know if i should or not or if by doing so it will cause me problems. This is the rule McAfee has created. LSA Shell (Export Version) 5.1 Microsoft Corporation C:\WINDOWS\system32\lsass.exe
