I heard that Realplayer has spyware or other things that embed itself into your computer. Should I bother installing, and if I do, how can I make sure all of its rigamoroll is taken out?

RealPlayer has NO spy- or adware.

Kerrap! It is renowned for phoning home and other invasive practises.

Do as XpUser4Real suggests and get RealPlayer Alternative.

I have had Real Player for years, and have never had a problem. There is NO Spyware or Adware. Yes it does phone home, but when you install it you can even turn that off just like you can in WMP.

"Kerrap! It is renowned for phoning home and other invasive practises."

That's not spyware and you can disable them from player options.

Like t8ntlikly also said, there's no crapware in RelPlayer.
