sfc /scannow

hi, I am having a problem with sfc /scannow running sfc /scannow it can't find my cdrom. I also tried this http://www.updatexp.com/scannow-sfc... , trying it to read from the hdd, without any luck. I even tried to mount a virtual drive without any success. Does anyone have any ideas? I might add that I recently recovered from a virus infection which rendered my cdrom unrecognizable. And in the device manager, the cd rom is listed with some weird characters and during the hardware install, the installation said that it didn't install properly. Thanks! Pierre

Summary: It calls for the CD because you have to re-install the fualty files. XP Home also has that feature sfc /scannow Hopefully my advice will help you...Please post back with your results....thanks...
