I'm having a problem with about:blank trojan. When it infected my computer, as well as doing all the standard stuff like creating se.dll and changing my homepage, it "restarts" windows every minute or so, ie, the startbar vanishes for a second and reappears with open programs listed in a different order, all explorer windows and other inbuilt windows processes close, the clipboard is cleared, and it returns to the "active desktop recovery" wallpaper. I've managed to remove all of the virus that I could find from my registry (although I could only find guides to NT and XP removal to help me), and it's stopped se.dll recreating, but my computer still does the restarting thing, which is exceedingly annoying. Anyone got any suggestions?

Hold up, I've managed to fix it now. There was another reg entry referring to "lzdhtml" that hijack this picked up for me, I removed it and my pc works fine.

Cheers anyway

If it happen to come back:

PumpkinKing,You will most likely need to post a Hijack This log so that the files associated with about:blank can be identified. You can download Hijack This at this link http://www.tomcoyote.org/hjt/ then place it into a folder of it's on, such as C:\HJT, so that back up copies can be made and not clutter your desktop or other folders and the backup copies of deleted items can be easily located if needed.

Once saved double click HijackThis.exe, and press "Scan". When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save Log" button.
Press that, save the log, ctrl-a to select all, and copy its contents into the text editor to post the log.

Then download SpSeHjfix from this link http://www.derbilk.de/SpSeHjfix109.zip to the desktop and then
right click a blank part of desktop & select new folder, call it spfix
unzip the file into that folder

Disconnect from the net and close all open programs.
Run 'SpSeHjfix'. and click on "Start Disinfection".
When it's finished it will reboot your machine to finish the cleaning process.
The tool creates a log of the fix which will appear in the folder.

If it doesn't find any of the SE files or any hidden reinstallers it will say system clean and not go on to next stage.

Next download http://www.ccleaner.com/ccdownload.asp and run it but remember that it will delete all items in the recycle bin.

After doing this post a second Hijack This log.
