Hi, i was wondering if anyone has an insight to the best firewall, malware and spyware to use for my LS98SE, I have just reinstalled the OS recently and with the help of this form (thank you Othehill) have reestablished internet connection. This machine has been "mothballed" for the last 3/4 years so I hadn't realized how many security software companies do not work with the 98's. freeware would be preferred. Thanks for any help.

There's not a lot of stuff left for Win98. Avast is about the only anti-virus that still supports it (AVG before version 8 still works but updates may be or have been discontinued). Spybot S&D should work for malware protection (even on Win95). Firewall software is almost non-existent, but you may be able to use an older version of ZoneAlarm (ver. 5.5 or earlier)...

T-R-A , thanks for the information. I will look at Avast and Spybot S&D. I've looked into ZoneAlarm prior and support for the 98SE firewall is not there. In asking I have found out firefox 3.0 and above does not support 98/95 and the 2.0 is there but no security updates, are there any web browsers that do support these old machines?

In going to the forum for 98/95 someone mentioned Opera can still be used for these machines. Will try that.
