Hi,
I'm running W2K on a Pentium2/266 and I'm wondering what my best option for security software would be considering the system's speed. I know Norton 2005 would be overkill. Are there any current products that work OK on old systems? I can get a copy of Norton Internet Security 2002 or 2003, assuming they come with the virus definitions, if that would be a good idea, i just don't want to slow the system down to a crawl.

Thanks!

AMD Athlon-XP 2800+ @ 2.08GHz
1GB PC2700 DDR-SDRAM
Two Seagate 80GB HD's, 8MB Buffer/7200RPM
ATI Radeon 9250 AGP, 128MB
RealTek AC'97 Audio
Windows XP Home, SP-2

Try AVG 7 free version for antivirus:
www.grisoft.com

For firewall, try Kerio or sygate or ZoneAlarm free version [good]

Also, get ADAWARE from lavasoft, and spybot just to make sure your system is in good order

Don't download junk, and use Mozilla Firefox instead of IE.

Anyway... Load up the newest norton just dontload all the extras, just load up AV and utilities.

Every time I have ever loaded it anywhere it has been good for a year from the time of install. If in doubt... load up their free trial version.*S*

A computer is a perfectionist's nightmare.
