Which security programs should be mandatory inorder to insure my pc is protected. I already have AVG on my pc and I want to also download a fire wall but am unsure which one to go with. Also what other programs should be mandatory to have on my pc so I can surf the web safely. Thanks for the help, I am still trying to learn all this PC stuff. Thanks

For the firewall Zone Alarm is as good as any other free one. For antispyware install Spywareblaster to run in the background then install Adaware & Spybot to use for regular checks. Download copies of CWShredder & HiJackThis for use in emergencies. All of these can be found at www.majorgeeks.com. Finally make sure you have all Windows updates & you keep you AV & spyware progs regularly updated

My opinion...2 cents
Ive been online over ten years.
Norton system works..has AV and utilities to keep your pc running smooth and fast.

Zone alarm pro firewall, monitors both incoming and outgoing connections. Easy to use ... simply asks you each time a program wants to connect. On WINME.. install and select DONT START NOW. Reboot and then it starts. (Its a small glitch that used to cause a freeze, I dontknow if they fixed it yet but it saves you the trouble)

ANd SPYSWEEPER ... Spysweeper has consistantly caught stuff other programs MISSED, and I have never had a problem with any program it takes spyware OUT of. Sometimes a spy ./bug remover will do its stuff and then the program wont work. Ive never had this problem with spysweeper. ANd even if you dont pay (yearly fee) for the update to the program, it still allows you to download the latest spyware definitions, so your still covered.
THREE programs total.

A computer is a perfectionist's nightmare.
