Hello,
When I go on the internet my home page is reset each time to about:blank, and a site www.syshomepage.com/security...comes up with a Warning box suggesting that I have a W32.Myzor.FK@yf virus.
I have checked with AVG and Spybot but the problem was not picked up.
Recently Sypbot came up with virtumonde.dll but suggested this was fixed.
I have run HijackThis v2.0.2 and there didn't seem to be anything unusual going on.
I have also run VundoFix but nothing was detected.
Please help!My mum wants to watch iplayer shows and I don't know if the internet is safe.

Hi,
Recently, I also had a struggle to remove Virtumonde from my daughters computer. But, I finally got rid of it..... Spybot removed it and it came back. I ran AdAware,AVG, Norton, McAfee, Vundofix, etc. and it always came back with additional viruses and Malware showing up also....
I decided to defrag the hard drive and immediately Spybot went from checking 296,000 objects to 340,000....That was 40,000 files, folders and objects that weren't being checked the first time....Spybot now found more files of Virtumonde, Smitfraud, etc. which I removed...But, I also ran a great little program called Malwarebytes which found everything in the system and removed them completely with a reboot...After 3 days of scanning and searching the web her computer is now clean.....I owe it all to defragging the hard drive first so, all files would be scanned....This worked for me....here is the link to Malwarebytes free download
http://www.download.com/Malwarebyte...

1. Defrag
2. Disconnect from internet
3. Shut off system restore
4. Run Malwarebytes FIRST..Reboot
5. Run Spybot, Avg or any other scans to verify a clean system

Sorry, I forgot to add that Virtumonde exploits a hole in Java 5... I would suggest to update to Java 6 update 10 and delete all prior version of Java thru add/remove programs..
Good Luck

It's worth noting that a lot of these pop-up IE errors telling
you have a virus are no more than a sinister ploy to get you
to download and pay for software that the third party is
getting a commission on. Unfortunately, it often works.

Always remember to shut down system restore when you're
removing spyware and viruses because if you don't, the bad
files will simply respawn from the creation points.
